Its been confirmed that suppliers who will be supplying parts for the ipad3 and the iphone 5 have been given the go ahead to start preparing materials for the production of the ipad3 and iphone5. A source states that apple only plans on launching one model of the iphone 5 and just recently gave the go ahead for the ipad3. Some have been sceptical if we would indeed see a new ipad model this year since its only been months since the ipad 2 was released. It was unclear weather apple would stick to its yearly release schedule of the ipads. However with 2011 really seeing allot of action in terms of tablet releases it makes sense for apple to refresh its product to stay competitive in a very competitive market. It is said that the new ipad3 will be thinner that ipad2 and have a much higher screen resolution. Rumors still have it set as a September or October for a release.
UPDATE: Well we all no now that no iPhone 5 or iPad 3 this fall. However it makes me wonder if this leaked rumor was meant to start production of parts only
